Lavant henge

 

A series of large round ditches near Lavant in West Sussex; apparently a series of henge-like monuments. The first phase was dug and then immediately filled in; we can only guess at the sort of ceremony that took place. Here, it is seen at night, with priests, acolytes and dancers, watched by the local population from outside. Painted for Past Matters: The Heritage of Chichester District
