Commissioning artwork
See here for a list of previous clients.
I work in several media-
normally acrylics or watercolours, or pen and ink, or pencil sketches. I can also
work in three dimensions, having many years’ experience as a model-maker (see
below)
Projects can span from a few weeks to a number of months
from start to delivery. Initial discussion of the subject matter with a client
leads to draft sketches, for which I then invite feedback. Each image is of
course heavily researched, and every detail (where applicable) checked with the
client. Such discussions will establish
the general form of the image. More sketches will establish the finer details,
then lead to final criticism and then on to the production of a final piece. I
like to make the end product not merely functional, but also beautiful; I
believe that this sort of artwork deserves to be just as well-crafted as any
other, so that people will want to look at it.
Pictures
Two-dimensional work is
generally the simplest way to present a reconstruction of the past, with the
advantage that an image is easily reproduced. I normally supply an image in
digital form on CD.
Models
A static display model can
present much more information than a picture, and of course it can be a real
delight to peer at a well-made diorama, with buildings, figures and landscape.
I can produce museum-quality models from durable materials, to order.
RATES for commisions
Archaeology is my passion,
and I believe that everyone should have access to our heritage and the fruits
of archaeological study. Every magazine, club, unit, museum and project should
have the chance to commission and use good reconstructions. To discuss fees, please
email me or leave a
telephone message on 0(44)1904 621414
Rates for publication are
negotiable. Please contact me for further details.
