11th century horse and rider

11th century horse and rider, with a selection of copper alloy harness fittings. The horse is short and stocky, typical of a British mount of this period. The saddle and harness are largely based on those shown in the Bayeax Tapestry. The appearance of the bridle is based on my own research. The rider wears thick woollen clothes and a heavy cloak, suitable for travelling on horseback. Produced for the Portable Antiquities Scheme
